Frequently Asked Questions

How does this reduce cost-savings?

Mondo’s bespoke solution provides end-users with the combination of solar and a community battery that work in unison to reduce energy costs for the entire village.

What happens if the grid power turns off, will I have electricity?

No. The solar and battery system will shut down to ensure the safety of residents and community. The system was not designed to operate without the grid.

Do houses with solar panels have cheaper power?

No. The electricity generated by the solar panels is not used directly by the houses hosting them. Instead, it is sent around the site to power all homes and the facility and to a central community battery.

Can I get my own solar installed?

No, the energy system is communal, like other services in the village, such as the roads, waste management, recreation facilities. Villages like Lifestyle are an “embedded network”, the network provider (AusNet/Powercor etc) who approves the solar connections have strict requirements which hinder individual systems. The solar and energy systems must be co-ordinated and act as one system.
