Mondo contributing to COAG Energy Council’s National Hydrogen Strategy

Mondo’s NATA accredited gas testing lab in Sydney has been studying the performance of appliances using natural gas mixed with 10% hydrogen. The testing involved a range of gas appliances from leading manufacturers and is the first step in determining the impacts of hydrogen end-use in everyday households.

The testing contributed to the COAG Energy Council’s appliance testing report which has recommended further tests – these will include an increased mix of hydrogen in natural gas. With more hydrogen tests lined up for appliances, and potentially including components and plastics, Mondo is aiming to position itself as a leader in Australia’s transition to a hydrogen economy.

Mondo is performance testing appliances such as heaters and cook tops with natural gas mixed with 10% hydrogen to inform the COAG Energy Council’s National Hydrogen Strategy

Martha Le, Mondo’s Manager of Laboratory Services, also sits on the Future Fuels CRC Appliance Subcommittee and was asked to contribute to the COAG Energy Council’s Installations and Appliance Technical Review report that informed the National Hydrogen Strategy.

Given the lab’s prior experience and its technical expertise, Mondo is very well placed to contribute to the next stage of appliance testing, or any development/research work to determine the maximum capacity of Hydrogen/natural gas mixes with currently approved appliances.
