A business breakfast to better the future

At the recent Geelong Chamber of Commerce breakfast held in Torquay, industry experts, Jodie Hallam General Manager of Energy Services Mondo, and Andy McCarthy CEO of RACV Solar, shared their insights to local business owners in the region on the energy transformation and opportunities it brings for businesses.

Touching on climate change risks and the trends of global decarbonisation, self-generation, storage opportunities and customer expectations for Australia’s brands and businesses energy future.

Highlighting that the expectations from consumers will continue to encourage business owners to demonstrate strong contributions to ethical and sustainable outcomes to reflect a positive impact on the environment and communities in which they operate. The transition from where we access energy to a decentralised energy system provides significant opportunities for business customers to manage these risks and be part of a regional and global movement.

Homeowners and small businesses who have installed a solar and battery storage system through the Geelong Community Solar Program and connected using the Mondo Energy Management Platform will be eligible to join the Mondo Virtual Power Plant. This energy-sharing program will automatically minimise the region’s grid consumption and focus on maximising solar consumption resulting in increased energy resilience and lower electricity costs for the community.

Launched in May this year, the Geelong Community Solar Program is helping homeowners and local small businesses switch to clean, affordable renewable energy. Participants can leverage their community buying power to access quality and cheap solar and battery storage solutions delivered by the best local installers and guided with expert support every step of the way.

The Geelong Sustainability community initiative aims to fast-track the uptake of renewable energy in the G21 region. In less than six months, the program has seen incredible uptake from the Geelong community and has quickly approached capacity with 192 residential participants installing solar PV panels and 26% adopting a battery storage solution as well.
