Even torrential rain couldn’t curb Apollo Bay’s interest in solar last week, with over 40 keen locals attending a Solar Program launch hosted by community group Southern Otways Sustainable (SOS).
In partnership with Mondo and local solar installer, City to Surf Solar+, Southern Otways Sustainable’s solar program offers locals high-quality, smart energy solar systems at competitive prices. Over ten residents and business have already signed contracts to participate.
“Together with SOS, we hope to cut through some of the uncertainties around solar to offer residents the best solar system at the fairest price”, said Dan Cowdell, Community Energy Partner, Mondo. “We’re offering independent site assessments to maximise value and our systems only include reliable brands. They even include a smart-energy monitoring and management device, Mondo’s Ubi, to get the most out of the investment. Basically, we’re making it as easy as possible for locals to embrace solar.”
Not only will residents and businesses get a good deal on the system, but they’ll also be able to track renewable energy targets as a collective. Everyone who gets a system in the program will automatically become part of the local energy “ecosystem” – and everyone will be able to see how they’ve contributed to targets.
“Our goal is to achieve 100% renewable energy”, said Matt Armstrong, President of SOS, “This program is our first major step towards achieving that.
