The recipient of the 2019 Women in Geospatial Science Scholarship was recently presented at a special awards night held recently at RMIT University.

This is the 3rd annual Women in Geospatial Scholarship which aims to increase gender diversity and attract more women to the geospatial science and surveying disciplines.
Scholarships are an effective tool to boost female representation – since launching the scholarship, female enrolments have increased by 25% in 2017 and a further 10% in 2018.
Kate Chan received the scholarship at the event attended by Mondo Spatial Intelligence Analysts and RMIT Alumni, Claire Knauth and Eloise Thaisen, and AusNet Services’ Manager Network Performance and Intelligence, Marie Slako.
When congratulating Kate, Claire from Mondo said “We are very proud to support young women in the spatial industry through the Women in Geospatial Science Scholarship. This scholarship plays a key role in attracting a more diverse group of students to study surveying or geospatial science, thus increasing gender diversity in the industry.”
The recipient of the scholarship, Kate Chan said “I intend to use this scholarship to provide me with the opportunity to engage in work experience as well as the ability to communicate with a mentor and give me greater exposure to the world of geospatial science.”
“Kate Chan is a diligent and enthusiastic student and we are proud to award the Women in Geospatial Scholarship to her. We look forward to mentoring Kate and providing guidance through her studies and her career in the spatial industry.“ said Eloise Thaisen.
Kate will soon be joining the 2017 and 2018 scholarship recipients, Zoe Hille and Felicity Johnson as members of the Mondo Spatial Intelligence team.
