Mondo is part of the Deakin University smart energy microgrid project, a $30 million initiative at Deakin’s Waurn Ponds campus to establish an industrial-scale smart microgrid energy system and integrated research and education platform.

This multi-faceted project will include a 14.5 hectare solar farm and rooftop solar installation incorporating a 1 megawatt battery storage facility which is expected to begin operation in 2019. The project brings together leaders in education, industry and government to design, construct and operate an innovative renewable energy vision as well as provide students with a range of hands-on opportunities to contribute to the future of energy.
